French Drain Clogged With Dead

As the year is coming to a close, we are taking a look back at some of our most popular lawn and landscape articles. Some of our most read articles include plants for different seasons as well as pet friendly landscaping. Others, not surprisingly, were directly related to water. The DFW climate tends to have plenty of rainfall, at times, or none at all. So, whether you want to conserve water to avoid the increasingly high water bills from many North Texas cities or avoid the damage that too much water can cause through the use of effective drainage systems, we have helpful tips and recommendations.

Lawn Watering Apps and Irrigation Controllers
In the summer of 2016, we wrote about watering apps. While the websites and apps, such as WaterMyYard.org and SprinklerTimes.com are still great, there are also some off-the-shelf sprinklers and irrigation controllers which use apps that can take your lawn watering to the next level. These include systems such as those available from Rachio, Orbit B-hyve, or Rain Bird which can all be purchased online at their respective websites or through most home improvement stores or Amazon. In addition to watering apps and smart sprinkler systems, you can always ask Alexa, Google, or Siri, “Should I water my grass?” However, your results may vary.

Drainage Systems to Avoid Water Damage
One of our most read articles, “Drainage Systems to Prevent Water Damage” was written in 2015 and not much has changed since then for effective drainage systems. The French drain has been around since about the mid-19th century and has had some improvements, but is basically the same general concept as when it was first introduced by Henry Flagg French.

Water damage can quickly occur if it is not properly addressed and can lead to everything from an influx of mosquitoes to significant foundation damage. Installing a French drain, trench (or channel) drain, a dry well drainage system, or a simple drainage ditch can ensure water is diverted away from areas where it has the ability to pool or erode and cause damage.

All Seasons Landcare has installed hundreds of professional drainage systems which can save thousands of dollars in water damage repair bills. Some are constructed in a way which needs minimal maintenance while others may need quarterly or yearly maintenance to function efficiently. So, check with us to see which system may work best for you and your needs.

In addition to our watering apps, and drainage system articles, we have many more lawn maintenance and landscaping tips which can be found here. As the year is winding down, All Seasons Landcare would like to wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday and new year. If you need regular lawn maintenance in DFW or lawn care just a few times a year, we are always happy to help. Contact us today!
